The research paper shows to the needs of children of color in the field of child abuse and neglect, national case-specific data on issues of causation, consequences, and the prospects of this problem within the African American community are greatly needed. In other words, a greater knowledge and a deeper understanding about the intersection of race, class and gender as they relate to African Americans. Further, there is a need to understand the contextual issues such as history, environment, and the process of parenting in the African American community.
