The purpose of the Gender Discrimination and Inequality Analysis (GDIA) was to assess the status of gender equality and equal opportunity for women and men within the public health sector to promote gender equality in the human resources for health. Gender equality in human resources for health (HRH) means that women and men have an equal chance of choosing a health occupation, acquiring the requisite skills and knowledge, being hired and fairly paid, enjoying equal treatment, and advancing in a career.
